In Latvia, the Riga City Court sentenced a man to six years of imprisonment on charges of hiring, participation in conflict outside the country and illegally crossing the border, the Baltic Country Prosecutor’s Office said.

His name is not called. According to the investigation, in 2023 he began to serve in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and in October of that year he was sent for war against Ukraine. The man participated in hostilities in the territory of Donetsk region.

In the fall of 2024, according to the prosecutor’s office, he illegally crossed the border to get from Russia to Latvia.

He pleaded guilty for all charges, concluded an agreement with the investigation and expressed his readiness to reimburse the state expenses for trial, according to the report of the supervisory department.
