“Our friend Matthias Rickka has been in a Riga prison from February 24 on suspicion of espionage … We all know that it is nonsense, and he has become a victim of paranoia of Latvian law enforcement agencies,” the author wrote.

The Latvia State Security Service confirmed LETA that citizens of Estonia and Ukraine were detained on the third anniversary of the beginning of the full -scale war of Russia against Ukraine. Both were sent into custody. They are accused of collecting secret information for the purpose of transferring a foreign country.

The detainees seized five mobile phones, four drones, two cameras, one flash drive and a forest chamber, which, according to the Latvian special service, they installed to monitor the object of critical infrastructure.

The agency noted that both had already been detained in Estonia on February 12 through drones near critical infrastructure, and one of them was declared a warning to ban such objects in Latvia without special permission.
