Details: The purpose of the combat readiness test is to check and improve the procedures and combat readiness of the units by training the units’ ability to react, explains the NZS.
As part of the combat readiness test, military equipment and personnel of the SZS units will be moved to different locations in Latvia to perform assigned tasks.
The combat readiness check is not related to changes in the security environment or other security-related events, the NSS emphasizes.
As explained in the National Security Service, the defense of Latvia and the protection of its independence is a joint responsibility of the entire society, which also includes readiness for action and strengthening of readiness for action. Strengthening readiness for action begins with the personal participation, initiative and responsibility of each person.
Each citizen decides for himself whether to go into professional service, to serve in the National Guard, to complete a basic course of military training for reservists, becoming a conscripted reservist, or to responsibly fulfill his work duties and take care of his fellow citizens.
