“Together with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, we honored the memory of all our soldiers whose lives were taken by Russian aggression. Bright memory to all Ukrainian men and women, to all our heroes who died as a result of Russia’s criminal actions,” Zelenskyy wrote in a telegram.
On December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made an unannounced visit to Kyiv. He also announced that at the meeting with President Zelensky, he will announce additional weapons worth 650 million euros, which should be delivered in December.
The last time Scholz visited the Ukrainian capital was in the summer of 2022 – then it was his first visit after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
According to the German government, so far about 5 billion euros (2023) and about 1.6 billion euros (2022) have been spent on military aid to Ukraine. Another 2.9 billion euros were allocated in the first two years of the war for supplies that will arrive only in 2025-2028.
