Details: During the monitoring of social networks, law enforcement officers discovered a video on Instagram in which two men – one with signs of disability, and the other dressed in a military uniform without identification marks, were near a shopping center in the Darnytsia district and asked citizens for money, posing as former soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
During the conversation with the author of the video, an active ex-serviceman and combatant, the men complained about the lack of payments, as a result of which they are forced to beg.
This post received about two hundred thousand views and was actively distributed by users on other Internet platforms, which, in turn, created a distorted picture among citizens of the abandonment of Ukrainian defenders and the lack of care for them on the part of the state, the police said.
Literally: “During the verification of the specified information, Kyiv police officers identified all the participants in the video recording. The pseudo-soldiers were a 39-year-old native of Kyiv and a 34-year-old native of Kherson, who recently moved to the capital. Both had previously been brought to criminal responsibility for theft and drug crimes.
The men found themselves in a difficult position and decided to ask the visitors of the shopping center for financial assistance. According to the latter, during a conversation with one of the passers-by, they misled their interlocutor about their alleged involvement in the Defense Forces of the country, and the latter subsequently distributed the said video to a wide audience.
The law enforcement officers held an explanatory conversation with the men regarding the inadmissibility of spreading false information and provided contacts of services that provide social assistance.”
