In Kyiv, the electricity supply to all the objects of the city’s critical infrastructure was restored after the Russian attack on January 20, the DTEK company reported.

“Unfortunately, the situation with the city’s electricity supply remains difficult. Emergency shutdowns continue. Schedules and division into groups does not work. Due to the enemy’s destruction of the capital’s generation facilities, the situation remains the most difficult in parts of the Dnipro and Desnyan districts. Another 44,000 homes remain without electricity,” the company said.

According to the report, repair work is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitalii Klitschko, said that in January, 600,000 residents left the capital of Ukraine, home to more than three million people. He told the British newspaper The Times about it.

Klitschko’s press service explained to “Ukrainian Pravda” that the Kyiv authorities came to this conclusion based on billing data – now there are 600,000 fewer phones “nightly” in the city.

“Hence the number announced by the mayor… Someone used the advice and who had a place, went – out of town, to friends. Plus, the vacation has now been extended. There are also students on online education, and some of them, who are not from Kyiv, have left,” the newspaper quoted the mayor’s office as saying.

Klitschko, in a comment to The Times, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is leading Kyiv to a “humanitarian catastrophe.” On January 20, according to the mayor, 4,000 high-rise buildings remained without heat in the capital of Ukraine. “The situation is difficult because most of these houses are being connected for the second time after the damage to critical infrastructure on January 9. Utilities and energy workers continue to work to return heat, water and electricity to the homes of Kyiv residents,” said the mayor of Kyiv.

Klitschko advised residents to “leave the city if possible” while emergency services try to restore power in Kyiv.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, due to Russian attacks on the night of January 21, consumers in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions were cut off. In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as reported, the situation remains difficult due to the additional load caused by frost.

The head of the Kharkiv regional administration Oleg Synegubov said earlier at the briefing that on January 20, 1.1 million subscribers remained without electricity, that is, about 90% of the population of Kharkiv and Kharkiv region. On the morning of January 21, 460,000 subscribers were without power. He stated that the authorities are preparing “for the worst scenario”.
