DTEK informs that on the command of “Ukrenergo” on February 2 in Kyiv and in the Kyiv region, emergency shutdown of electricity is applied.

“We would like to remind you that during emergency shutdowns, schedules do not work. In case of changes, we will promptly inform you in our Telegram channel,” the message reads.

Ukrenergo and the Ministry of Energy have not yet commented on the situation.

Meanwhile, a number of Oblenergo also reported emergency shutdowns due to the consequences of previous Russian massive missile and drone attacks, in particular: in Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions.

After the massive attacks by the Russian Federation, Ukraine’s energy system is under a state of emergency, and since January 29, temporary schedules instead of emergency schedules began to operate in Kyiv.

But on January 31, the Ministry of Energy was informed about a system accident, as a result of which the high-voltage lines between the energy systems of Romania and Moldova, as well as between the western and central parts of Ukraine, were simultaneously disconnected.

In Ukraine, emergency blackouts were reported in a number of regions, as well as in Kyiv. In particular, due to an emergency shutdown, the metro stopped in the capital of Ukraine, and there was also no water supply.

In the evening of January 31, the Ministry of Energy announced that the energy industry had restored electricity supply in all regions of Ukraine.

On January 31, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukrainian energy experts are investigating the causes of the technological accident in the energy system – there is no confirmation of external intervention or cyber attack. According to him, “there are more data that due to weather conditions the lines were iced, automatic disconnections occurred.”

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, the frosts have set in again. It is expected that at the beginning of February, the frost will reach minus 30 degrees in some places.
