A student came to one of the schools in Kyiv on the morning of January 12 with a knife and injured two people, the capital’s police reported, adding that they were “finding out the circumstances of the attack.”

“The message to 102 was received today, January 12, at 8:45. According to preliminary information, one of the students came to school with a knife and attacked the teacher and a classmate. The victims are being provided with medical assistance,” the message reads.

The attacker has been detained, the police are working at the scene, law enforcement officers added, promising other details later.

A similar incident occurred less than a month ago in Russia, where the motive of the attacker was national hatred.

On December 16, a student of the ninth grade of the Assumption School of the Odintsovo District of the Moscow Region Timofii K. sprayed pepper spray in the face of a security guard, stabbed him with a knife, and then attacked a 10-year-old schoolboy with a knife. The child died, the murdered schoolboy turned out to be a citizen of Tajikistan.

Before the attack, the attacker was interested in the nationality of the schoolchildren, was wearing a vest with the inscription No Lives Matter (“No Lives Matter” is the slogan of a radical Internet community that promotes xenophobic ideas and justifies violence) and filmed what was happening.
