The other day, law enforcement officers received a report about the disappearance of a 30-year-old local resident, and during an inspection of her parents’ home, they found the bodies of all three without signs of life.
The police established that the day before, the residents of Kyiv turned on the generator on the balcony and went to sleep, while the door to the balcony was open and led to the room. The results of the forensic examination confirmed that the cause of death of the woman, her 61-year-old mother and her 63-year-old father was carbon monoxide poisoning.
The police emphasize that carbon monoxide has no smell and color, but is extremely dangerous – poisoning can occur in a matter of minutes. Generators and fuel should only be used outdoors.
Threats to life and health due to improper use of generators have been repeatedly reported. For example, in Odesa region, three children were poisoned by carbon monoxide due to an improperly installed generator in the house. It happened in January 2024.
