On Tuesday, December 3, during a conversation with journalists in Brussels, the head of the Italian Foreign Ministry spoke about his country’s participation in the PURL program.
In his opinion, against the background of ongoing peace negotiations, it will be “premature”.
“If we reach an agreement and hostilities cease, weapons will no longer be needed. Other things will be needed, such as security guarantees,” the Italian foreign minister believes.
It is worth noting that at the end of October Italy privately expressed readiness pay for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine within the PURL.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte recently said that if the peace talks are not successful, it is necessary to put pressure on Russia: through a persistent provision of military aid of Ukraine and through the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions.
