In the Kyiv region, an apartment building in Gostomel, which was destroyed by Russian troops in March 2022, was restored at the expense of the UNITED24 presidential program. 300 of its residents will return to their homes. This was reported by the head of the Kyiv OVA, Ruslan Kravchenko, reports UNN.

As Kravchenko pointed out, this is already the 4th building commissioned under the UNITED24 program.

The day before, the restored building was inspected by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction – Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Viktor Mykyta, Head of the Kyiv OVA Ruslan Kravchenko, Deputy Permanent Representative of UNDP in Ukraine Hristoforos Politis.

During the artillery shelling, a section in one of the entrances was completely destroyed, and a total of 9 apartments were destroyed. In addition, the walls and roof of the building were damaged, windows and doors, facades were broken, the heating system and all engineering networks were disabled.

Reconstruction started in May 2023.

The volume of work performed is enormous: 9 apartments, walls and internal partitions were completely restored, entrances and common areas were repaired, the attic was insulated, a new roof with ventilation and gutters was installed, windows, doors, balconies were replaced where necessary, apartments were repaired

Ruslan Kravchenko also pointed out that Kyiv Region is currently restoring 18 apartment buildings as part of the UNITED24 program. More than 4,000 people who lost their homes due to the Russian invaders will be able to return home. 4 restored multi-apartment buildings have already been put into operation, others will soon. In addition, 3 schools in Brovary and Vyshhorod districts are being rebuilt with the help of UNITED24.

During the reconstruction of this object, they were able to save 16.8 million UAH, part of it during the tender, the rest – during the works, since all materials were purchased at market prices.

The operations director of the GEM foundation Andriy Negrych helped restore the children’s playground near the house with his own funds.

“I am happy when children’s laughter is heard in the courtyards of houses and on playgrounds. This means the return of people to a full-fledged life and plans for the future in Ukraine,” Kravchenko added.
