In Crimea, dozens of new obithologists of the dead in the war were found in Crimea, a quarter of them – with a criminal past

One in four of them is a person with a criminal past, many were a recidivist.

Some Crimeans who were in court in criminal cases have signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry and went to the war before the sentence was issued. For example, an Alushta resident Alexander Volkov in 2024 was accused of criminal case, but had time to sign a contract before the trial.

The resident of Sevastopol Alexander Sovkin, previously convicted of robbery and theft, in 2024 he was again in court for grievous bodily harm. However, the sentence did not come to the sentence: the Crimean managed to sign a contract and went to fight in the 810th separate brigade of the Marines of the Russian Federation. He died on the front.

A resident of Bakhchisarayai Denis Mizyuk in 2023 was in the case of theft and fled from the investigation, after which he was made on the international wanted list. Despite this, he later found himself at the front and died in the Kupyansk (Kharkiv region) by the end of April 2025.

Yakov Matyash, previously convicted of theft and robbery, was detained in Russian Labinsk in the summer of 2024 with a drug pack. He fled from court. He was sentenced in absentia in September 2024 – four years in prison. Subsequently, it turned out that Matyash was killed in the war. When he went to the front – before or after – it was not possible to install.

In the occupied Crimea, the funerals of the Russian Federation, who died in the war against Ukraine, pass almost daily. On December 19, 2024, the editorial board of Crimea (Radio Svoboda project) published the Grus 200 database with the first thousand identified Crimeans who fought in the Russian army and died in the war of Russia against Ukraine.

The list contains information about their place of birth, a place of call or recruitment to the Russian army (including an actual military unit), as well as for part of the dead – the exact or approximate place and date of death.

To date, the number of identified Krimans in the war on the side of Russia against Ukraine is 1356.
