According to the investigation, the convicts managed large-scale telecommunications fraud and gambling operations operating from the territory of northern Myanmar. The circulation of funds in this scheme exceeded 10 billion yuan (approximately 1.4 billion dollars).

Law enforcement officials said that the group acted in collusion with other criminal organizations under the leadership of “financial sponsors.” In addition to phone fraud, they were involved in the management of underground casinos, drug trafficking and prostitution.

“The Ming family crime group also conspired with Wu Hongming’s online fraud group and others to intentionally kill, injure, and illegally detain people involved in the fraud, resulting in the deaths of 14 Chinese nationals and injuries to many others,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

Among those executed: Ming Guoping, Ming Zhenzhen, Zhou Weichang, Wu Hongming and others. Before the execution of the sentence, they were allowed to meet their close relatives.

  • Criminal syndicates in Myanmar run huge cyber fraud centerswhere extreme cruelty prevails. Lured by promises of legal work, hundreds of thousands of people fall into slavery. In such centers, people are forced to engage in online fraud around the clock. Those who do not meet the “norm” of profit are brutally tortured, killed or have their organs removed. The bodies of the dead are often thrown into rivers.
