“For the period from January 1 to December 31, 2025, 2,040 film titles (including TV series) were entered into the State Film Register. During this period, 7 films were banned for distribution and screening on the territory of Ukraine,” the agency responded to Interfax-Ukraine’s request.
In particular, Derzhkino banned the 2010 Ukrainian film “Prayer for Hetman Mazepa. New version” (director Yuriy Illenko) due to the participation of the Russian actor Nikita Dzhigurda, who is included in the list of persons who pose a threat to national security.
Also excluded from the State Register are four foreign films in which Russian actor Yuri Kolokolnikov was filmed – “Caught Red-handed” (2025, directed by Darren Aronofsky), “Kraven the Hunter” (2024, directed by JC Chedor), “Killer’s Bodyguard” (2017, directed by Patrick Hughes) and “Tenet” (2020, directed by Christopher Nolan); one, in which the Russian actor Valery Nikolaev starred, was “Terminal” (2004, directed by Steven Spielberg).
In addition, at the request of the ICTV channel, the tape “Max 2: Hero of the White House” (2017, directed by Brian Levant) was excluded from the register.
The State Film Agency of Ukraine (Derzhkino) is the central body of the executive power that implements state policy in the field of cinematography.
