“Norway also decided to extend the support program for Ukraine until 2030, setting a minimum amount of allocations”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
“Norway is steadfast in its support for Ukraine. We are continuing our support until 2030, and next year we will provide at least NOK 35 billion (US$2.3 billion). It is very important for Ukraine that our support is stable for many years and that there is a broad political consensus behind it. We want the people of Ukraine to know that Norway’s support will continue,” said Støre, quoted by the press service of the Norwegian government.
It is noted that at least NOK 35 billion will be allocated to the support program in 2025. Of these, 22.5 billion (approximately $1.5 billion) will be allocated for military support, and 12.5 billion for humanitarian and civilian support.
The support program for Ukraine under the Nansen program was launched in February 2023. At today’s meeting, the political parties agreed to expand and extend the program for another three years – until 2030.
According to the Norwegian government, the total amount of funding will be increased to at least NOK 154.5 billion (US$10.1 billion) over the duration of the program. A minimum allocation of NOK 15 billion (US$1.4 billion) per year is set. This means that appropriations that exceed this amount in any given year will not be deducted from the funding total, as was the case previously.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said he called Norway’s decision to increase support for Ukraine next year “very important”.
“The government of Norway and the parliament have reached an agreement on the minimum level of funding for assistance to Ukraine – it is 3.2 billion dollars. It is on such days, when there are massive Russian strikes, that it is important to feel that our partners are with us side by side,” he said in his video message.
On September 20, it became known that Norway will extend its aid package to Ukraine until 2030, increasing the total amount to 135 billion kroner
