Over the last month, four promising Ukrainian judoists have changed sports citizenship. The Judo Federation of Ukraine states that it is not an “outflow” of athletes.

The position of the FDU is transmitted by public sport.

According to the Federation, one of the reasons for the change of citizenship is the boycott of competitions, where the declared judoists from Russia and Belarus. However, in most cases, this decision was a matter of time because the athletes lived abroad.

“This situation has definitely played a role and gave impetus to changing the sports citizenship of athletes. The FDU is forced to be guided by the order of the Ministry. However, first of all, these athletes have not lived in Ukraine for several years and, apparently, finally decided not to associate their future with our country.

The FDU adds that Alexei Boldyrev and Igor Tsurkan have not entered the territory of Ukraine since the beginning of a full -scale invasion and did not participate in national competitions. Nevertheless, they went to national teams, and Ukraine paid the costs of these business trips.
