Human rights activists: The persecution of women in Crimea has become a separate policy of Russian special services

The persecution of women in Russia occupied by the territories of Ukraine, especially in the Crimea, turned into a separate, purposeful policy of Moscow, stated at a pressing dedicated to violation of political prisoners, the head of the Crimean human rights group Olga Skrypnyk.

The Russian authorities deliberately exacerbate the repression, using threats to deprive parental rights, as well as accusations of articles about “State Council” and “Espionage”, quotes Skrypnyk “Public”.

“The women of Crimea immediately joined the resistance, they participated in all actions and continued to protest even after occupation. That is why today we are sure that the persecution of women is a separate goal of Russian special services, ”Skrypnyk said, adding that the scale of repression increased significantly after 2022.

Human rights activists also point out that particularly alarm is the use of children as a pressure tool on women. In addition, persecution is accompanied by a complete disregard for the health of prisoners.

The manager of the Center of Human Rights of ZMina Victoria Nesterenko presented monitoring results, which indicate a critical deterioration of the situation with the medical support of political prisoners.

“We have confirmation from lawyers and relatives about the systematic failure to provide medical care. In two cases, it led to the death of political prisoners, ”she stressed.

Lyudmila Shevchenko, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the CrimeanSOS NGO, also stressed that especially painfully women-Polishvichni feel the lack of basic medical care.

Human rights activists called on the most information on violation of political prisoners in the occupied territories. They emphasize that public attention and international support can increase the chances of returning women to families and protecting their lives.

The President of Ukraine reported to the ARC that, according to them, on August 22, 2025, at least 222 people were kept in the occupied Crimea for lattice for political reasons. Of these, 133 are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people.
