Ukrainian pentathlete, participant of the 2024 Olympics, Vladyslav Chekan, commented on the decision of Ilya Kovtun, the silver medalist of the 2024 Games in gymnastics, to change his citizenship.

Chekan reacted to comments on one of the posts about Kovtun on Instagram — many users harshly criticized the gymnast for wanting to represent another country.

It should be noted that at the Olympics in Paris, 23-year-old Chekan stopped at the semi-final stage in modern pentathlon.

Earlier it became known that 21-year-old Kovtun has applied for Croatian citizenship and intends to play for the Balkan country in the future.

At the 2024 Olympic Games, Kovtun won a silver medal in parallel bars. He is also the current vice-champion of the world in all-around.
