The General Directorate of Intelligence has released information about 178 cultural values that the Russians appropriated during the temporarily occupied territories, in particular from the Kamian Tomb Museum.

This is stated in the “Stolen Heritage” section on War & Sanctions, GUR writes.

In intelligence, more than 140 artifacts were stolen by the Russians during illegal archaeological excavations in the Crimea: at the objects of the southern suburbs of Chersonese Tavriysky, Horodyshche Kadikovsky (Roman camp) and the monument of Byzantine architecture “Church of John the Baptist”.

37 more exhibits the Russians were taken out of the National Historical and Archeological Museum “Stone Tomb” to the Museum “Chersonese Tavriysky” under the guise of “Temporary Exhibition” “The Spiritual World of Ancestors in Petroglyphs of the Stone Tomb” in 2023.

In July 2025, GUU identified another 110 cultural values that the Russians took to Crimea.

French NGO “Pour L’Ukraine, Pour Leur Liberté et La Nathere!” (For Ukraine, for their and our freedom!) Created Petition With the requirements of depriving Russia of membership in the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

The petition emphasizes that membership of institutions and persons that destroy, plunders and falsify cultural heritage violates these principles. According to the French organization, many national committees have already called for this exception to Russia with Isom – so far to no avail.
