According to him, the government is looking for ways to cooperate with the US and is ready to start a dialogue with the new administration of Donald Trump.
At the same time, the prime minister added that further decisions on this issue will be made by the government of Greenland.
“Greenland’s independence is Greenland’s business, including the use of its land, so Greenland will decide what agreement we should reach,” he said.
Egede convened Greenland’s party leaders in the capital to discuss a collective approach to US interests.
“This is the first time that Greenland has been listened to so carefully. We need to keep calm, take advantage of the situation and unite,” the prime minister added.
On January 13, the Fox News channel reported that a group of Republicans in the US House of Representatives presented an initiative that would provide Donald Trump with legal authority to purchase Greenland.
Previously, the elected vice president of the United States in the administration of Donald Trump, J. D. Vance, said that there is no need for the American authorities to use military force in Greenland, but regarding the island “you can make a deal.”
Trump’s desire to join Greenland to the United States
