“Now […] I don’t see any signs that Russia is serious about peace,” Pistorius said, noting that even during the recent US-sponsored talks in Abu Dhabi, Putin attacked Ukraine “in a way that has never been seen in this war.”
Pistorius also rejected the Kremlin’s claims that his attacks were never aimed at civilians or civilian infrastructure, saying: “This is terror aimed solely at civilians in winter in minus 20 degrees.”
The minister added that Putin does not show any willingness to compromise.
What preceded: On January 30, Donald Trump once again stated that he sees a chance for the success of negotiations to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
We will remind you that the Kremlin confirmed that they received a request from Trump for a pause in the strikes on Ukraine and will withstand it until February 1. Trump said in his statement that he asked for a week, but did not mention from which date the countdown should have started.
According to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the “week without strikes” in the energy sector actually began on the night of Friday, January 30.
