Details: The aforementioned law was adopted in the United States in the 1930s to suppress Nazi and Soviet propaganda. The purpose of Fara is to control the direct influence of foreign power on domestic policy, when entities funded from abroad do not act autonomously and fully obey instructions.

At the same time, Georgian non -governmental and media organizations say that the FARA law in the United States does not interfere with the activity of independent non -governmental organizations and free media, while “the illegal Ivanishvili government wants to re -register the Russian law adopted against the civilian sector.”
The draft law approved in Georgia regulates, in particular, the issue of registration of “inagents”, ensuring publicity of registration, submission of annual financial declaration, cancellation of registration, monitoring for the purpose of detecting “inagents”.
The Georgian bill determines criminal liability for evasion of registration as an “inagent” or failure to comply with the relevant requirements of the law.
The law will be enforced by the Anti -Corruption Bureau.
Last year, the Georgia Parliament passed the Law on Transparency of Foreign Elions – a Russian analogue of the Law on “Inaging” – against the backdrop of thousands of protests, critics of opposition and international partners.
EU leaders stated that the adoption of the Law on “Inaging” actually stops the process of Georgia’s European integration.
However, the Georgian authorities later stated that it intends to replace the scandalous law on “inagents”, passed last year, a “direct copy” of the current version of the US law Fara.
