Generators will be sent to Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron announced after a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Macron did not specify the number of generators in question and when they would be sent.

“After the G7 meeting, which was co-chaired by France, generators will be sent to Ukraine to help the population survive the winter. France’s position is clear: we will support Ukraine as long as necessary so that it can defend itself and prevent the aggressive war waged by Russia,” he wrote on the social network Kh.

Macron also said that Ukraine can also count on France as part of the “Coalition of the Willing”.

“We continue to work on creating conditions for a just and durable peace that guarantees the security of Ukraine and Europe. We reviewed the negotiations that began last week in Abu Dhabi. We agreed that Europeans should be fully involved in discussions that concern them,” he wrote, adding that France remains determined to increase pressure on Russia as long as “it refuses to commit to peace.”

Zelenskyy has not reported on this conversation so far.

After the meeting of the G7+ group on energy support for Ukraine on January 23, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal announced that
France will provide more than 100 generators with a total capacity of 13 MW.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has been striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Since the beginning of the fall of 2025, Russian forces have intensified their attacks on the Ukrainian energy industry.

After the last massive attacks by the Russian Federation, the energy system of Ukraine is under a state of emergency, the most difficult situation is in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. According to the latest data from the authorities, there are still 639 high-rise buildings without heating in Kyiv due to the attacks of the Russian Federation.
