General Staff: there were 46 Russian assaults in the Gulyaipil direction last day

191 combat clashes were recorded on the front last day, the largest number of Russian attacks were in the Gulyaipil and Pokrovsky directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the morning of January 6.

“In the Pokrovsky direction, our defenders stopped 43 assault actions of the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Chervyn Lyman, Sukhetske, Zatyshok, Rodynske, Myrnograd, Pokrovsk, Kotlyna, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, Filia and towards the settlements of Grishine, Ivanivka… In the Gulyaipilsk direction, our defenders stopped 46 enemy attempts to advance in the areas of Uspenivka, Sweetnogo, Gulyaipol and in the direction of Dobropill, Varvarivka, Zeleny and Pryluk,” the message says.

Also, according to the command, fighting continued in the South-Slobozhansk, Kupyansk, Lymansk, Slovyansk, Kostiantynovsky, Oleksandrivsk, Orichivsk and Prydniprovsk directions.

The day before, the Radio Liberty Donbas.Realii project wrote that for the first time in a very long time, the Pokrovsky direction ceased to be the leader in terms of the number of Russian assaults per day – its place was taken by Gulyaipilskyi.

On the morning of January 5, the General Staff reported 54 combat clashes around Mirnograd and Pokrovsk, and as many as 65 around Gulyaipol.

Almost the entire city, according to the DeepState map, is in the “gray zone” – neither side fully controls it. However, the Russian army was able to drive a “wedge” into its center, as well as approach from the north to the route to Varvarivka, which feeds the Ukrainian group.

Analysts generally noted the great activity of the aggressor in the Zaporizhzhia region at the end of 2025 and at the beginning of 2026. According to their data, the Russian army is actively storming Biloghirya near Orikhov, as well as Stepnohirsk, which can open the way to the city of Zaporizhzhia for Russian troops.
