General Staff: there were 192 clashes per day at the front, 90 in the Kurshchyna and Pokrovsky directions

The situation at the front remains difficult. In general, 192 combat clashes were recorded during the past 24 hours, according to the morning summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January 9.

“In the Pokrovsky direction, our defenders stopped 42 assault actions of the aggressor near the settlements of Myrolyubivka, Baranivka, Elizavetivka, Lysivka, Zelene, Zvirove, Novy Trud, Kotlyne and Nadiivka,” the post states.

According to the headquarters, in the Kurakhiv direction, the Defense Forces repelled 38 Russian attacks in the areas of Dachny, Kurakhovo, Shevchenko, Petropavlivka, Slovianka, and Yasenovo.

In the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian units repelled 48 attacks by the Russian army.

Russian forces also advanced in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Lyman, Siver, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Vremiv and Dnieper directions.

“According to detailed information, yesterday the enemy carried out 35 airstrikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, dropping 62 anti-aircraft missiles. In addition, it carried out more than five thousand attacks, including 144 from rocket salvo systems, and brought in 2,333 kamikaze drones for destruction,” the military said.

The DeepState project and the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russian army in the first days of 2025 is actively capturing new territories to the south, southeast and east of Pokrovsk.

According to DeepState data, the Russian army advanced in Toretsk, Pishchany, near Vozdvizhenka, Baranivka, Solony, Slovianka, Petropavlivka, Novoelizavetivka, and Kurakhovo in Donetsk region.
