167 combat clashes were recorded on the front during the last day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on May 18.

“Our defenders stopped 54 assaults and offensive actions of the aggressor in the areas of settlements Stara Nikolaevka, Yablunovka, Vozdvizhenko, Nova Poltavka, Mirolyubivka, Elizabeth, Ray, Novosergiyivka, Troitskoye and Andriyivka,” – the message reads.

23 Russian attacks were recorded in the Novopavlovsky direction, 24 in the Liman direction, 14 in the Toretsky and Kurian directions.

In addition, the fighting lasted in Kharkiv, Kupyansk, Siversky, Kramatorsk, Orikhiv, Dnieper directions.

“Yesterday, the invaders struck the positions of our troops and settlements 75 of the aviation blows, dropping 106 managed aviation bombs. In addition, 2960 Kamikadze drones were involved and 4735 shellings were carried out, including 122-from rocket launchers, ”the General Staff noted.

The attacks of Russian troops continue against the backdrop of direct peace talks between Kiev and Moscow in Istanbul on May 16 – the first in almost three years – which have not brought significant progress except the agreement on the exchange of prisoners. Ukrainian officials have accused Russia of putting up “unacceptable” requirements.

The Pokrovsky direction in the Donetsk region remains one of the hottest areas of the front. Over the last year, the largest number of combat clashes is mainly recorded there.
