The situation at the front remains tense, 149 combat clashes have been recorded over the past 24 hours, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in the morning summary.

According to the report, about half of these clashes took place in two directions: Kurakhivskyi and Pokrovskyi.

“In the Pokrovsky direction, our defenders stopped 32 assault and offensive actions of the aggressor in the areas of Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Krutiy Yar, Yuriivka, Hryhorivka, Pustinka and Petrivka settlements. In the Kurakhiv direction, the Defense Forces repelled 42 attacks. The occupiers most actively tried to advance near Nova Ilyinka, Berestki, Voznesenka, Sontsivka, Zora, Maksimilianivka, Dalny, Kurakhovo, Katerynivka, Elizavetivka, and Antonivka,” the command noted.

In addition, fighting continued in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Lyman, Siver, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Vremiv, Orihiv and Dnieper directions.

“According to detailed information, yesterday the enemy launched three missile strikes against the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, including one massive missile-air strike, using a total of 132 missiles and 85 air strikes, including dropping 141 anti-aircraft missiles. In addition, it carried out more than 4,700 attacks, of which 111 were from rocket salvo systems, and engaged about 1,699 kamikaze drones for destruction,” the summary states.

The American Institute for the Study of War said in a report dated November 17 that Russian forces are likely to focus on capturing front-line Ukrainian cities in winter and on urban fighting.

“Russian troops have recently advanced to Kupyansk and Chasovoy Yar, and such an advance may be part of a concerted effort to advance to front-line cities in preparation for offensive operations in the winter,” analysts say.
