Gazprom plans to stop gas transit to Europe via Ukraine in 2025

“Gazprom” plans to stop gas transit to Europe via Ukraine in 2025. The Russian company “Gazprom” intends to stop gas transit through Ukraine after December 31, 2024. Gas exports to “far abroad” will decrease by 20% and will amount to less than 39 billion cubic meters.”, — write on: unn.ua

the Russian corporation “Gazprom” will stop the transit of gas to Europe through Ukraine in 2025. In the plans of the corporation from the so-called “far abroad” – Europe and Turkey – only gas supply to Turkey remains. This is reported by Reuters UNN.

Details

Kyiv has announced that it wants to terminate the transit agreement, which would put an end to more than half a century of gas supplies from Siberia to the markets of Central Europe, which began in Soviet times and were a stable source of income for the Russian budget.

Despite Kyiv’s declaration of unwillingness to continue the agreement, which brings Ukraine up to $1 billion a year in transit fees, Moscow signals its readiness for negotiations and the possibility of continuing supplies through Ukrainian territory.

However, Russia, which before the Great War was the largest supplier of natural gas to Europe, lost almost all of its European customers. This happened due to the EU’s attempts to reduce dependence on Russian energy, as well as after the Nord Stream gas pipeline was blown up in 2022.

As the agency notes, such a plan has not yet been finally agreed upon by the leadership, but it provides for the termination of transit through Ukraine immediately after December 31.

Russian gas exports to “far abroad” are expected to decline by 20% in 2025 to less than 39 billion cubic meters, compared to more than 49 billion cubic meters in 2024. This supply is through the “Turetskyi” and “Blakytny Potik” gas pipelines.

At the same time, Gazprom believes that supplies to Turkey will not only not stop, but will not even decrease.

We will remind

Earlier, UNN reported that Hungary is negotiating with Gazprom about additional gas purchases for 2025. It is planned to use the full potential of “Turkish Stream” to increase the volume of imported fuel.
