Details: The participants of the meeting in Paris on January 6 emphasized commitment to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and welcomed the progress achieved, in particular during the discussions between the Americans, Ukrainians, European and other partners.

“In particular, the Coalition has clearly stated that Ukraine’s ability to defend itself is critical to ensuring the future of Ukraine’s collective security and Euro-Atlantic security. We confirmed that ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty and long-term security must be an integral part of the peace agreement, and that any settlement must be backed by reliable security guarantees for Ukraine,” the text reads.
The signatories are ready to commit to a system of politically and legally binding safeguards to be activated once the ceasefire regime enters into force, in addition to bilateral security agreements and in accordance with our respective legal and constitutional arrangements.
Warranties will include the following components:
- Participation in the proposed US-led ceasefire monitoring and verification mechanism.
- Support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: The Coalition has agreed to continue to provide critical long-term military assistance and armaments to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to ensure their continued combat capability as they remain the first line of defense and deterrence.
- Multinational forces for Ukraine, formed at the expense of the contributions of the member countries of the coalition, to support the recovery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and deterrence.
- Commitment to support Ukraine in the event of a future armed attack by Russia in order to restore peace.
- Commitment to deepen long-term defense cooperation with Ukraine.
- The signatories also decided to establish a US/Ukraine/Coalition coordination group at the Coalition’s operational headquarters in Paris.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a declaration of intentions to deploy troops in Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement.
