France intends to invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to the Group of Seven (G7) summit in June, French Ambassador to Ukraine Gael Vessier said.

“For France, Ukraine is an extremely important topic throughout our presidency of the G7. We have already decided to invite President Volodymyr Zelensky to the G7 leaders’ summit. But in addition, we strive to remain as focused as possible on the energy sector,” Vesier said in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

According to him, everything that the G7 can do to support Ukraine, “the French presidency will actively push forward.”

The ambassador also assured of the priority of Ukraine during the French presidency of the G7.

“Ukraine will be a key topic of our presidency. Absolutely,” Vesier emphasized.

In 2026, the Group of Seven (G7) summit will be held in France from June 15 to 17.

The G7 includes Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, France and Japan.
