The Japanese Railway Company West Japane Railway Company, together with JR West Innovations and Serendix, begins the implementation of a unique project-the construction of the world’s first railway station, created using 3D printing.

This innovative solution will significantly reduce the time of erection of the building, increase its stability and reduce construction costs.

The area of the new building will be about 10 square meters. The foundation and outer frame will be printed using advanced 3D printing technology, after which the elements will be completed and will be assembled in place with a crane. The whole construction process will take no more than six hours and will be made between the last and first train of the day. This approach allows you to avoid long breaks in the work of railway infrastructure and significantly increase the efficiency of construction work.

The reinforced concrete building will be highly strength and corrosion resistance. Unlike traditional reinforced concrete construction, 3D printing technology does not require the use of formwork, which gives more freedom in the project. The exterior design of the station will take into account the local specificity and preferences of residents, contributing to harmonious coexistence with the environment.

The project is aimed at solving the problem of lack of labor in the construction industry and modernization of railway infrastructure. The economic efficiency and convenience of maintaining a new station building will be carefully studied to subsequently introduce 3D printing technology at other stations. This will be an important step towards creating a safe, reliable and ecological transport system.

JR West continues to work on the introduction of advanced technologies in the sphere of railway construction, seeking to modernize infrastructure and the provision of sustainable transport services focused on the needs of society.
