Finnish authorities have declared the detained Eagle S tanker belonging to the fleet, which was transporting Russian oil, unfit for sea voyages due to serious technical faults.

This is reported by Bloomberg, writes UNN.

Details

The inspection of the state port control revealed 32 technical malfunctions on the ship, three of which endangered the safety of navigation. In particular, it is about problems with fire safety, navigation equipment and ventilation of the pump room.

Traficom emphasized that all these deficiencies must be eliminated before the vessel receives permission to go to sea.

Finland lifted the ship’s sea anchor from the bottom this week to continue its investigation into possible aggravated criminal activity. A Finnish court allowed the tanker to be detained.

The Cook Islands-flagged vessel has been identified as a member of the so-called shadow fleet carrying Russian oil products.

We will remind

Law enforcement officers raised an anchor from the Gulf of Finland, which is believed to belong to the Russian tanker Eagle S. The find may be related to the damage to the communication cable between Finland and Estonia on December 25.
