Details: According to him, if a group of countries wants to send their soldiers to the territory of Ukraine, Slovakia cannot prevent them from doing so.
“However, I emphasize once again, I repeat a thousand times, that during the functioning of my government, no Slovak soldier will go to the territory of Ukraine as part of the multinational military forces,” Fico said.
At the same time, he said that he could imagine the participation of Slovakia in monitoring the peace agreement.
“As prime minister, I can imagine the participation of Slovakia as a neighbor of Ukraine in monitoring a peace agreement or a truce, if the warring parties ever agree on it. Because such agreements cannot be imposed. And before the plans of the so-called “coalition of the determined”, I fundamentally prefer bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation with Ukraine based on joint negotiations between governments,” he said.
The purpose of this, he said, is civil cooperation, energy and transport links, help with electricity or gas, humanitarian aid, for example, demining machines.
“I temporarily present a different opinion about the war in Ukraine than Germany or Great Britain, and I do not believe in their strategy. It is wrong. It only leads to further bloodshed,” Fizo said.
We will remind, the members of the “coalition of the determined” are Ukraine and the United States of America signed a joint declaration regarding security guarantees for stable and lasting peace in Ukraine.
The “coalition of the determined” also decided to create in Paris special coordination center in the “USA – Ukraine – coalition of the determined” format, which will be responsible for security guarantees for Ukraine from the Western allies.
The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, said about readiness of the EU to undertake obligations regarding the system of politically and legally binding guarantees that will be activated after the ceasefire regime enters into force.
