This morning, Bucha, located in Kyiv Oblast, experienced two explosions near a residential building, according to local officials.
The head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnik, reported that the first explosion damaged windows in the apartment complex. Shortly after, another explosion occurred in the vicinity.
“As a result, two police officers sustained injuries. They have been hospitalized, but their condition is reported to be moderate, and their lives are not in danger. Further treatment will be outpatient, with no need for hospitalization,” Kalashnik stated.
Emergency services, including police and bomb disposal units, are currently on-site addressing the situation.
Kalashnik urged residents to exercise caution, advising them to avoid approaching any suspicious or unidentified objects and to report such findings to the police or emergency services immediately.
The Kyiv police clarified that they received a report at 5:35 AM from a Bucha resident regarding the initial explosion. The shockwave from the blast caused damage to her home.
“Law enforcement quickly cordoned off the area in accordance with protocols for terrorist threats and alerted residents about the risk of further explosions. While responding to the initial call, a second explosion occurred,” the police statement read.
“Preliminary reports indicate that a homemade explosive device detonated. Thanks to the efforts of the relevant services and the investigative team, a suspect has been detained by 10:00 AM,” added Ihor Polozun, head of the Bucha District Administration.
As of now, the police have not issued any official comments, according to a correspondent from Suspilne reporting from the scene.
