An explosion occurred near the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, on March 8, around 1:00 AM local time. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and damage from the incident is minimal.
The Norwegian police confirmed the explosion took place near the entrance of the consular section of the embassy. Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the vicinity.
“We have confirmed that the explosion happened close to the American embassy,” stated police spokesperson Mikael Dellemur to the public broadcaster NRK.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are searching for individuals connected to the explosion. No additional explosive devices were found at the scene, Dellemur added.
“The police are in contact with the embassy, and there have been no reports of injuries,” the Oslo police stated in a separate announcement.
As of now, the U.S. Embassy and the State Department have not released any comments regarding the situation.
