Explosion at the gas station in Rome: The number of victims increased to more than 40

According to the latest data, the number of victims as a result of an explosion at the gas station in Rome reached 45 people, two people in serious state in resuscitation.

Details: It is reported that as a result of an explosion at the gas station on Via Gordiana, 45 people – 24 ordinary citizens, eleven law enforcement officers, one carbiner, six firefighters and three more emergency staff were injured. One person was rescued from a burning car that was engaged after the explosion.

According to the main assumption of police, the explosion provoked an accident during the overload of liquefied natural gas.

Representatives of emergency services first came to call due to gas leakage, and then suffered from a strong explosion.

The incident could have ended in much more victims, as there was an ambulance with oxygen balloons, which could also explode.

In addition, before the detonation at the gas station, they had to evacuate children from a nearby summer camp and close it. If it all happened an hour later, about 60 children would eventually be severely affected by the explosion.

The fire and rescue service continues to inspect the buildings in the explosion area, fixing the damage. Many are knocked out glass and window frames, the area around the fragments.

For the first time after the incident, more than 20 victims were reported.

What was before: In October 2023, more than a hundred people were killed in a benzoid explosion in Nagorno -Karabakh, almost 300 were injured. The incident occurred during the mass departure of the population from the region because of its transition under the control of Azerbaijan, so there was a giant queue near the gas storage facility.
