On July 22, the Verkhovna Rada supported the Law No. 12414, which, as it was reported, limits the independence of NABU and SAP. After that, NABU Chairman Semen Krivonos urged the President of Ukraine to veto the bill, but Zelensky signed him the same day.

These legislative changes have provoked protests in Ukraine, as well as concern from Western partners.

Subsequently, President Zelensky introduced a new bill to the Council “Strengthening the powers of the National Anti -Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.” On July 31, the Verkhovna Rada approved it as a whole.

The National Anti -Corruption Bureau positively evaluated the Bill No. 13533, submitted by the President. According to the assessment of anti -corruption bodies, it restores all the procedural powers and guarantees of independence of NABU and the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

In July, the SBU reported that Russia was investigating Russia’s alleged influence on the National Anti -Corruption Bureau. Among the defendants was named, in particular, the head of one of the interregional offices of the Bureau Ruslan Magamedrasulov. Subsequently, the SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General also reported involvement in the case of the current People’s Deputy from the PPZZ Fyodor Khristenko, who is suspected of treason. On September 6, the SBU press service was reported.
