EU Defense Summit in Poland has become known

At the informal EU summit, which will take place on April 2-3 in Warsaw, the defense ministers will consider the initiative of the high representative of the EU on Foreign Affairs, Kai Callas for increasing military assistance to Ukraine.

Details: The “European Truth” interlocutor stressed that the initiative of Kai Callas to increase military assistance to Ukraine provides first of all the closure of the priority needs of the Armed Forces in ammunition: 2 million large caliber shots for 5 billion euros by the end of 2025.

“The order of the day meeting consists of two sessions. The first is about the military support of Ukraine by the EU. The second is about the White Book on European Defense (European Commissar Andrews Kubilus) ” – EEAS official told.

He said that during the first session, “strengthening of EU military support and possible security for Ukraine” would be discussed.

“This includes the initiative of the high representative to strengthen Ukraine’s military support, as well as the opportunities for deepening cooperation between the EU and the Ukrainian defense-industrial base, cooperation with NATO and other partners. Time will allow us to discuss these topics quite deeply,” the European Truth interlocutor added.

“We invited the Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and the NATO Secretary General, who will be replaced by the Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekeryinsk because of employment at the Brussels Ministerial Summit in Brussels,” the EEAS official said.

According to him, the second session dedicated to the “White Book” and the “Rearm Europe” planned in the format of “rapid exchange of views between ministers on their funding”-in order to develop a specific plan of action to the European Council summit on June 26-27.

“It is important to help Ukraine achieve a comprehensive, just and long peace, which can only be achieved from the standpoint of force. That is why the high representative of the EU has taken the initiative to provide enhanced military support to Ukraine, in particular on ammunition,” – added the interlocutor of “European Pravda”.

“Ukraine needs 2 million large caliber ammunition about about 5 billion euros in 2025. This request was made directly by Zelensky during the last summit of the European Council,” he said.

The Euro -official recalled that during informal summits, ministers do not make any decisions. But they plan to prepare a database to make a decision during the next EU Council meeting on Foreign Affairs on April 14.

“We want to get more information that Member States plan to send to Ukraine from the point of view of ammunition supplies. And see that we can make more collectively as the EU. Member States have already provided us with a lot of information, but we would like to have a complete picture,” he summed up.

I will remind that the high EU representative on foreign policy and security policy, Kai Callas called a “realistic plan” first to agree on 5 billion euros on ammunition as part of its wider initiative of military assistance to Ukraine for up to 40 billion euros.
