The European Union and Canada have formalized an agreement under the SAFE program, a defense investment initiative valued at €150 billion. This development was announced by European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius.
Kubilius emphasized the importance of this agreement, stating, “In light of global changes, Canada and the EU are strengthening ties at a crucial time. It is gratifying to sign this significant agreement under the SAFE instrument this morning. This will enhance our industrial and security capabilities and bolster our defense cooperation and economic relations.”

It includes a total support package of €150 billion, primarily allocated for the procurement of military equipment, with a focus on European-made products. The initiative also offers low-interest loans to facilitate these acquisitions.
