Moreover, Kyiv may even complete the negotiations before Orban’s veto is overcome, and then, when the Hungarian problem is resolved – the opening of the cluster and the closing of its chapters can even be simultaneous – provided that Ukraine at that time has already completed everything necessary for this.
“When the Hungarian blockade is lifted – and I am absolutely sure that it will happen – we will be able to open these negotiating clusters very quickly and close them, confirming that Ukraine is ready to join the EU,” says Marie Bjer, who is responsible for enlargement in the Danish government.
