“Recently, six humanitarian cargoes with a total weight of more than 50 tons arrived in Ukraine from the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Spain and Norway. These are power transformers, distribution cabinets, generators, lighting masts, etc., Shmyhal wrote in a telegram.
In addition, according to him, it is expected that a batch of power equipment from the Czech Republic will arrive on January 23, 400 generators will go to Kyiv from Poland, and aid from Austria will go to the reserve hub of the Ministry of Energy.
“We process all requests quickly. 20 shipments of 114 tons of equipment have already been sent to enterprises of the fuel and energy complex and critical infrastructure,” the minister added.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has been striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Since the beginning of the fall of 2025, Russian forces have intensified their attacks on the Ukrainian energy industry. After another Russian strike in January 2026, Ukraine’s energy system is under a state of emergency. In particular, the situation in Kyiv is one of the most difficult.
The Security Service of Ukraine qualifies Russia’s strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure as crimes against humanity. The SBU previously noted that since the beginning of this year’s heating season, it has documented 256 air attacks by the Russian Federation on energy facilities and heat supply systems of Ukraine.
