Energoatom and the French company ORANO signed the Uranus Enrichment Agreement

The French energy company ORANO and the Ukrainian National Atomic Energy Operator on March 6 announced the signing of a large long -term commercial agreement for the supply of uranium enrichment services by 2040. This was confirmed by the signing in Vienna by a joint statement by the Acting Director General of Energoatom, Peter Kotin and Orano CEO Nicolas Gas.

Energoatom reports that the contract guarantees Ukraine a reliable and diversified supply of enrichment services to provide fuel with a nuclear fleet. “We are proud of what we accompany” Energoatom “in its development to strengthen Ukraine’s energy independence,” said Nicolas Mayes.

Energoatom continues to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security. Uranium enrichment is one of the important stages in the production of nuclear fuel, and the signed agreement allows our country to plan a stable, bright future, based on the work of nuclear power plants, ”Petro Kotin said.

There were four nuclear power plants (NPPs) in Ukraine with 15 power units, one of which is the Zaporozhian NPP with six power units with a total 6000 MW capacity – the largest in Europe. After the occupation of Energodar in the Zaporozhye region, the electricity does not produce electricity.
