Embargo on agricultural exports from Ukraine: Poland found a new reason not to lift the ban

The Polish Ministry of Agriculture stated that they will not cancel the indefinite ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, in particular, wheat, corn, rapeseed, sunflower seeds, flour, cakes, and bran, despite the entry into force of the renewed trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine. Source: “European Truth” with reference to the statement of the Polish agricultural department. Details: The department claims that the new agreement does not take into account all the provisions proposed by Poland “which were supposed to minimize the potential negative impact of the import of Ukrainian goods on Polish agriculture.” As noted in the Polish Ministry, the new quotas and volumes resulting from the trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine concern the import of goods to the entire EU, and in Poland, as before, there is an indefinite ban on imports from Ukraine: wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower, as well as some of their processing products. “In connection with the emergence of false information, the Ministry of Agriculture confirms: the new agreement does not affect the change of the above-mentioned provisions,” the statement reads. What happened before: on October 13, the EU member states agreed on a package of agreements on the next stage of liberalization of access to the EU market for a wide range of products of the Ukrainian agro-food sector. Read more about the agreements and why Ukrainian exporters and officials should take them with caution in the column of the head of the Brussels office of the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club, Nazar Bobytskyi, New trade agreement with the EU: what additional risks it brings for Ukrainian farmers.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua
