Details: At least two people died, dozens were injured, and the police in Berlin temporarily detained about 400 people.

In Bielefeld, two 18-year-old teenagers died as a result of accidents with homemade fireworks. According to the police, both incidents happened independently of each other, there are no signs of involvement of third parties.
Serious injuries were also reported in other regions: a 14-year-old boy lost his arm near Rostock, and a 16-year-old girl was seriously injured in Leipzig while using prohibited pyrotechnics.
Attacks on police and rescue workers were reported in Berlin, Leipzig and Hamburg. In Leipzig, law enforcement officers were pelted with bottles and firecrackers, garbage cans were set on fire.
About 4,300 employees of emergency services were on duty in the capital. According to the Berlin police, at least 21 police officers received minor injuries. In total, at least 24 emergency services workers were injured across the country.
Hospitals report a significant number of victims of firework explosions, including children. The final numbers are expected to rise.
At the same time, the big official celebrations in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate, in Munich and Hamburg were generally quiet.
Police noted that there were fewer serious incidents and extensive property damage in Berlin this year than in previous years.
Note that on the night of January 1, a fire broke out in the Constellation Swiss bar.
The Swiss police believe that about 40 people died as a result of a fire during a New Year’s party.
As a result of this incident, the President of Switzerland, Guy Parmelin postponed the New Year’s address.
