Details: The Polish president noted that during the negotiations with Zelenskyi, historical issues were raised – a topic that “we never avoided during our meetings.”

“Negotiations are now underway in the working group, which was created by the leading coalition (Poland. – ed.) and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, regarding these historical, search and exhumation works,” he noted.

The Polish president expressed hope that requests from the Polish side regarding the exhumation of the victims of the events in Volyn “will be considered and will be approved.”

“This is not a new topic, we have been talking about it with the president for a long time, and it is calm and constructive. It is no secret that this is a difficult topic that needs to be resolved calmly,” Duda concluded.

What preceded: On January 10, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that a decision had been made on the first exhumation of the Polish victims of the Volyn tragedy in Ukraine, but he did not give details.

Commenting on Tusk’s statement, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, expressed hope for “further implementation of agreements based on mutual respect and reciprocity.”
