Direct speech of the head of the region: “An enemy UAV attack on a substation in the Veshkaim district was repelled. There were no casualties or injuries. Special services are working at the site of the wreckage.”
Details: The governor assures that the electricity supply to the settlements is carried out as usual.
However, Astra reports that there was a fire at the substation. This is confirmed by satellite data of the NASA Firms service.
Astra emphasizes that the Veshkaima 500 kV substation is a connecting link in the Volga energy ring, as it provides a connection between the power systems of the Ulyanovsk Region, Mordovia, Chuvashia, and Samara Region of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that “significant amounts of electricity” pass through this substation, including from the Syzran and Zhiguliv hydroelectric power stations, which are headed to the central regions of Russia.
On October 18, drones already attacked the Veshkaim 500kV substation.
