Driving to suicide? FIDE will study the statements of the Russian Kramnik over the death of the American chess player

The International Chess Federation opened disciplinary proceedings against the Russian Vladimir Kramnik due to the tragic death of Daniel Narodytskyi.

This was reported by the press service of FIDE.

“Together with the FIDE Board, I will officially transfer all relevant public statements made by Grandmaster Volodymyr Kramnik – both before and after the tragic death of Grandmaster Daniel Narodytskyi – to the FIDE Ethics and Disciplinary Commission for independent review.

At the same time, I reaffirm that FIDE will take appropriate action in any case of disrespect, public harassment or bullying within the chess community. We all share a responsibility to ensure that our sport remains a space of honesty, respect and humanity – values that should always prevail over hostility and discord,” said Arkady Dvorkovich.

We will remind, the day before it became known about the death of 29-year-old American chess player of Ukrainian origin Daniel Narodytsky.

Despite the fact that the cause of death was not reported, the world chess community blamed Vladimir Kramnik for his death. The Russian grandmaster repeatedly accused the American and David Navara of unfair play on one of the online platforms.

The Russian published the statistics of “Title Tuesdays”, where he called them “Cheater’s Tuesdays”, operating on the fact that it is impossible to play as Navara and Narodytskyi consistently and qualitatively without help. Later, Navara published a text about his shaky mental state, but Naroditskyi complained to his friends that the pressure from Kramnik was affecting him very badly.

Kramnik, in turn, has already managed to reject all the accusations, saying that he “wanted to draw attention to Narodytskyi’s mental state, but no one listened to him.” The Russian also said that he would sue everyone who accuses him of Narodytskyi’s death.

In the summer, one of the “victims” of the Russian, David Navara, sued Kramnik due to baseless accusations.
