DPSU: Polish farmers plan to restrict traffic in front of the checkpoint “Medyka – Shegyny”

Polish farmers plan to restrict traffic in front of the “Medyka – Shehyny” checkpoint, the State Border Service of Ukraine said in a statement.

“On November 23, from 9:00 a.m., Polish demonstrators plan to start a possible protest action – blocking traffic in front of the “Medyka – Shegyny” checkpoint. According to preliminary information, the action will last 48 hours with a possible extension,” the department notes.

Border guards say that vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons will not be allowed to enter Poland. At the same time, according to the DPSU, one truck per hour will be allowed to leave Poland.

According to information from the Polish side, “restrictions will not apply to the category of passenger cars and buses.”

In the summer, the DPSU reported traffic jams on the Ukrainian-Polish border. The border guards explained this as the tourist season, when passenger traffic increased by 40%.”

On September 6, it became known that traffic delays are possible at all checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border due to a technical failure. A technical failure occurred in the system of the customs service of the Republic of Poland. On September 9, the passage of trucks was resumed after a technical failure.

On August 28, it became known that on the Polish side, repair work began at the “Medyka” checkpoint at 11 o’clock. On August 8, the DPSU reported traffic jams at two checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border.

As the border guards said, “Ukrainians began to cross the border more often through checkpoints on the border with Poland due to the tourist season. Currently, the increase in passenger traffic has increased by 40%.”
