The event, according to the organizers, is a response to US pressure on Ukraine to accept a peace plan. The organizers point out that such compromises have already had a tragic backfire in history – in particular, in 1938, when the world believed the promises of the aggressor and forced Czechoslovakia to capitulate to Nazi Germany.
Czech intellectuals joined the action, in particular: Pavel Kosatik, Czech writer, screenwriter and publicist; Mikulas Kroupa, Czech journalist, director of the public organization “Post Bellum” and others. They gave speeches to the participants of the action under the US Embassy.
According to the correspondent of Radio Svoboda, more than 100 people joined the action.
At the end of the event, the participants stood in a circle and turned on the flashlights of their mobile phones, some came with lamps – in this way, people symbolically lit a light for Ukraine. Others brought with them and held in their hands banners with slogans in support of Ukraine and flags of Ukraine, the Czech Republic and the European Union. The national anthems of Ukraine and the Czech Republic were also played at the rally.
The event was organized by the Czech initiative in support of Ukraine “Citizen Navigator”, public organizations “Pulse of Europe”, “Volt CZ”, “Manifesto 2025”, “Kaputin” and others. Ukrainian activists also took part in the action, in particular Anastasia Signaevska, co-founder of the Czech-Ukrainian initiative “Voice of Ukraine”.

The organizers emphasize that the aggressor’s concessions do not lead to peace, but to his further demands. “The whole world paid a terrible price in 1938 for the surrender of Czechoslovak border fortresses. Pressure on the defenders to surrender the territory is not the way to peace, but to an even bigger war,” the initiators of the action say.
Similar events were also held in other Czech cities, in particular in Brno, Jicin, Opava, Česká Lipa, Teplice and Pržerov.
These actions took place against the background of the discussion of the peace plan developed by the United States.
