It is known that several units of the Armed Forces were involved to respond to these incidents, but the military does not specify what is what is meant by “response”. The Ministry of Defense refused to comment on the incidents and forwarded the issue to the Armed Forces.
One of the places where the illegal activity of the drones was recorded was the Karup military airbase, the main air base of the Royal Air Force of Denmark. There the drones were in the air both above the territory of the air base and outside its fence.
According to a representative of the police of Central and Western Yutland, from one to two drones were observed at about 20 o’clock in the area. For some time, the airspace has been closed for civil aviation, but it was not of great practical importance, since there are currently no civilian flights in the carp.
Police cooperates with the army in this case and asks witnesses who could see something on Friday night near the air base, report it.
The air base is the largest military workplace with approximately 3,500 employees. On the basis there are both land troops, air forces, and naval forces.
The air base also has all the helicopters of the Armed Forces, is responsible for the control of the airspace and is the location of the Air Force Sergeant School.
Prehistory:
- Copenhagen Airport, the most loaded in the Scandinavian region, was closed for several hours on Monday, as several large drones were spotted in its airspace. The five smaller airports, both civilian and military, were also temporarily closed in the following days.
- The Danish authorities called these invasions “hybrid attacks”, and Mette Prime Minister Fredericksen said that it was “the most serious attack on Denmark’s critical infrastructure for today.”
